The Miracle Fish—Our Testimony
A simple piece of firewood. A symbol of faith. A reminder that God still works miracles.
One ordinary morning, as my husband was bringing wood into our home for our fireplace—a fireplace we use often and love—something extraordinary happened. He picked up a log from our wood pile, a log cut from the very timber harvested on the land where we built our home. Nothing about it seemed unusual.
But as he split the log and turned it over, he froze.
There, on the end of the wood, was a clear image of the Jesus Fish—the ancient Christian symbol of faith. Perfectly shaped. Perfectly placed. Untouched by the splitting of the log.
He stood there amazed, not only because of what he saw, but because he knew how easily the image could have been destroyed in the process, yet it was not. The Jesus Fish was preserved.
When he brought the log inside and asked, “Where did this come from?”
I did not hesitate.
“God,” I said.
People have asked us many times how we think the image got there. Even after we explain the story, they still ask, “But how?”
The truth is simple:
We believe God showed us a miracle that day — one meant to be shared.
Faith must come into play.
Not everything God does can be explained by natural or scientific laws. Not everything He reveals fits neatly into human understanding.
When someone asked me what I consider a miracle, I looked up the definition.
Webster’s Dictionary describes a miracle as:
“An extraordinary event that appears to involve divine intervention in human affairs . . . something surprising and welcome that isn’t easily explained by natural or scientific laws — a wonder, marvel, or phenomenon.”
That definition fits perfectly.

To the skeptic who needs every detail explained, I simply say:
“Good luck.”
Some things are meant to be believed, not dissected.
Just as God performed miracles in biblical times, we believe He still reveals Himself today — sometimes in grand ways, and sometimes in quiet, personal moments… like a Jesus Fish appearing on the end of a piece of firewood.
Our Miracle Fish is a reminder that God is present, God is speaking, and God still works wonders for those who have eyes to see and hearts to believe.
This is our testimony.
This is our miracle.
And this is why we share it.
